WORK NIGHTS

Work Nights are scheduled throughout the year (when classes are not being held) to give participants a simulation of rally, conformation, obedience, nose work, etc. or to practice skills in a setting with distractions. This allows the handler and dog to experience a show like setting with matting, ring set up, distractions with other dogs, and a "judge" in the ring. These work sessions are designed for those who are currently competing or who are curious about what it would be like to compete. Some instruction is provided, but it is up to the handler to have an understanding of what is expected in each type of venue. Anyone is welcome to attend without a dog to watch what is going on, free of charge!

Do you think your dog has what it takes to be a Therapy Dog? Do you and your dog want to give back to your community by volunteering at your local school or nursing home? On our therapy dog worknights, scenarios and situations will be set up similar to what you may encounter in a therapy visit and/or during a therapy dog evaluation.  Cost is $5 per dog.

Sessions are announced on Facebook (what venue is being held) and is $10 per dog (no limit on dogs you bring). If a dog/handler is too disruptive or too reactive to other dogs/people, money will be refunded, and the dog will be asked to leave.

During the Conformation Practice, a show ring will be set up and someone will act as the "judge". A examination table will be accessible for table dogs. Attendees will work together to simulate an actual class at a show.

*A conformation dog is welcome to attend performance night to work outside the ring and in the ring if there is a break (or if no performance dogs are in attendance), but priority is given to the dogs/handlers who are there for performance.

During Performance Events, a show ring will be set up and someone will act as the "judge" to call out an obedience pattern, examine a dog, time a long stay, etc. If most attendees want to practice rally, a rally course will be set out. If the majority wants to work on agility, equipment will be pulled out. If the majority wants to work on nosework, hides will be hidden. Those in attendance will determine the course of the evening. Attendees will be given 5 minutes in the ring. Number of times in the ring will be determined by number of attendees.

*A performance dog is welcome to attend conformation night to work outside the ring and in the ring if there is a break (or if no conformation dogs are in attendance), but priority is given to the dogs/handlers who are there for conformation. on, free of charge!
